Town
Hall Community Briefing |
|
Over fifty enthusiastic residents
came to the Town Hall Community
Briefing on April 7th to
discuss how to address concerns that
earlier surveys among adults and
students in Clinton had shown to be
of major importance. They watched a
Power Point review of the survey
results and then took part in one of
five discussion groups – Bullying,
Underage Drinking, Youth Criminal
Activity, Family Focused Community
Activities, and Youth Involvement in
the Community. Many people took the
opportunity to sign up for further
action and a committee is being
created to work towards short term
and long term solutions, using ideas
from the discussion groups. The
event was sponsored by Clinton Youth
& Family Service Bureau, The First
Selectman’s Task Force and Morgan
School Peer Advocates.
Anyone interested in further
information can call the Youth &
Family Service Bureau at 669-1103. |

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS
BILLBOARD ?
 |
|
Recently CYFSB held
a contest in the Harbor News. The first
three people to email us with the exact
location received a prize: a family pack
of tickets to the Marquee Theaters in
Westbrook. The winners were Robert Rowe,
Betsy Carroll and MJ Gandolfo.
Congratulations to all three!
This billboard is
part of a movement in Clinton to reduce
underage drinking. CYFSB wants to get
the message out to parents and teens.
Research commissioned by The Century
Council shows that 65% kids get their
alcohol from family and friends.
Eliminating this access would cut down
on alcohol related car crashes, risky
sexual behavior, and violence, not to
mention the damaging effects of alcohol
to a teen brain. Kids are constantly
getting messages from each other about
drinking. Parents, make sure you send
them the right message: It is
against the law, and it is NOT IN OUR
HOUSE!
Join 100 Clinton
households in pledging to host youth
gatherings where alcohol and drugs are
NOT allowed. Contact CYFSB @
860.6691103 to become a member of “A
Parents’ Promise”.
