Barbara Small
 
Is the director of the Clinton Youth & Family Service Bureau.  A great deal of her time is spent researching funding opportunities and securing state, federal and local grants. These responsibilities are balanced with providing counseling services for youth and their families and the development of community based events and services.   Barbara graduated from the University of Denver with a BA in Sociology and Education.  She received her counseling degree from SCSU in New Haven and did additional course work at UCONN School of Social Work.  She has been the director of the Bureau for 14 years.  When not working, she is often found in her garden or curled up with a book and cat. Barbara loves movies, theater, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
 

Marie Pinette
 
Has been the Clinician at CYFSB for the last 9 years. She graduated from Salve Regina University with a Bachelors in Psychology and obtained her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Rhode Island in 1998. In addition to providing counseling services to youth and families, she co-advises the Morgan Peer Advocate Program and the Summer Partners Mentorship Program with Program Coordinator, Andrea Kaye.  Originally from Lewiston Maine, she grew up in a musical, French speaking family. When she is not at work, she loves to sing, play the piano, make jewelry, and paint.  You may recognize her as a regular cantor at the 5:00 mass at St. Mary’s Church here in Clinton
 
Andrea Kaye
Is the program coordinator at CYFSB. She started out as the Prevention Specialist from 2002 to 2006. Andrea was born and raised in the New Haven area. She received her BA degree in social work and psychology from Syracuse University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a masters in Rehab Counseling and doctorate in Counselor Education. Before moving back to Connecticut, she was a Marriage Family Therapist in California in private practice for 15 years. “It is great to be developing positive youth development programs and making Clinton a better place for young people to grow up”, says Kaye. Andrea lives in Guilford with her husband Jeff, teenage son Max and yellow lab Nala. Andrea loves to snow ski, hike, travel and read. She can be reached at akaye112@snet.net

 

Diane Neri
 Has been the secretary/office manager for the Bureau since January 2003. Prior to that she served for 3 years as a member of the CYFSB Advisory Board. Diane hold a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Lesley College and an Associate in Science degree from Manchester Community College. She brings 30 years of experience in office management and accounting to the Bureau. Diane was raised in New York City where she expressed her artistic and creative interests by singing in an All - City Jr. High School Chorus and attending the High School of Music and Art as a vocal music major. She taught recreational activities to visually impaired youth at the Lighthouse for the Blind. A 20 year resident of Clinton,  Diane lives with her husband, John and their puppy Rocky, who also serves as the Bureau mascot. Diane is a member of Shoreline Community Women and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Karen Kleinerman
 Prevention Coordinator, newest member of the CYFS team, was raised near Philadelphia, PA and is a thirty year resident of Hamden, CT, where she has been involved in community affairs as a former member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and also with civic associations interested in the value of neighborhoods. She has a BFA in Graphic Design from Carnegie Mellon University, and has frequently contributed her design skills to non-profit organizations. Also as a volunteer, she led a behavior modification program in the New Haven area for seven years. More recently, she was coordinator of Hamden’s former coalition to reduce underage drinking, and with its members created public awareness materials regarding the realities of youth and alcohol. In the summertime, Karen can be found working in the garden--hers or someone else's; and year round, she is usually doing something creative-- at the computer writing light verse or in the kitchen making edible art.
